What we ask of you

  • At least 21 years old by the start of camp.
  • A heart for youth development — genuinely interested in working with young people and building a positive, empowering camp.
  • Available for the whole camp, taking part in all scheduled activities, meetings and discussion groups.
  • Attendance at all pre-camp training. These sessions prepare you for the role, set expectations, and build the team.
  • Adherence to camp rules and Rotary Youth Protection policies, including guidance on behaviour, boundaries and safety.
  • A Livescan background check, passed before camp.
  • Physical readiness for a full weekend — walking, standing for long periods, and actively engaging with youth.
  • Team spirit. Elders bring positive energy, flexibility and a collaborative attitude.
